WTF Productions’ ACTION SPECTACULAR enjoyed by sell out crowds
Rendezvous Jewel Box Theater
Seattle, WA
What do Ninjas, Super Heros, Care Bears and Mystical Faeries have in common? They’re all character concoctions from WTF Productions’ latest sketch comedy show, ACTION SPECTACULAR. The greatly anticipated sketch show from WTF was a hit a the Jewel Box Theater, a Belltown hot spot for Seattle performers. Both shows SOLD OUT!!!! As the theme denotes, the show was comprised of several sketches involving action heros in odd predicaments or simply character archetypes with a quirky spin.
ACTION SPECTACULAR, originally slated to showcase in June at the Ballard Underground, was unfortunately cancelled due to extenuating circumstances (read: crazy, mad drama yo!). In the true spirit of ‘the show must go on’ it was revamped not only in content, but also its musical element. “We owed it to our fans and ourselves to put this show on. Nothing or no one was going to stop us,” said Tommylicious.
The Gravity Kings, a Seattle-based funk band, provided the perfect musical texture for the show. These well-versed musicians (Kris Pendleton, Everett Sarono and Tom Wilkinson) adeptly conquered the material for WTF’s parodies, musical interludes and general atmospheric funkalicious jams.
WTF Productions is now preparing for SketchFest Seattle, taking place at the Theatre off Jackson October 6-8, 2011.
